Information You’ll Need for Company Formation
A checklist of details and documents required to complete your application
For the Application:
1) Particulars
You will need to provide information about the company you are looking to form:
- Company Name: Choose a name and add 'Limited' or 'LTD' at the end.
- SIC Codes: Identify your business activities. You can select up to four Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes here.
- Registered Email Address: The official email address for the company.
- Registered Office Address: The address where the company is legally registered. For those concerned with privacy, our address may be used by selecting the appropriate formation package that includes this service.
2) Appointments
You will need to provide details for the shareholder(s), director(s), persons with significant control (PSCs), and secretaries (if applicable). Information required includes:
- Title (Mr/Mrs/Miss, etc.)
- First Names
- Last Names
- Date of Birth
- Personal Email Address
- Nationality
- Personal Verification Code from Companies House (if available; otherwise, we will request this for you once ID verification is complete)
- Current Residential Address
- Service Address (This is the correspondence address displayed on Companies House. Like the registered office, you can use our address if the appropriate formation package is selected).
Share Allocation
- Specify the number of shares you would like to allocate to each officer of the company. Most founders choose a total of 10, or 100 shares at £1.00 per share.*
*Please note, we are unable to form companies with more than 10,000 shares, or a share capital of over £10,000.
After the Application:
Shortly after your application is submitted, we send you an email with instructions on how to complete your ID checks. If you haven’t obtained a Personal Verification Code (PVC) from Companies House yet, we request this for you after your ID checks are complete. Companies House will then email your PVC directly to you.
1) ID Verification
For all customers and officers, we will request a copy of your ID. Please see the accepted documents below, determined by their country of issuance:
- All countries: A biometric or machine-readable passport.
- UK: Additional options include a driving licence, biometric residence permit (valid or expired up to 18 months), residence card, or Frontier Worker Permit.
- Ireland: A biometric or machine-readable passport, or an Irish Passport Card.
- EU/EEA/Channel Islands/Isle of Man: Photocard driving licence or biometric ID card.
Kindly note: If you are not a resident of the UK or EU/EEA, you are required to present a passport.
2) Proof of Address
Additionally, for UK residents, proof of address may be required in certain cases. For non-UK residents, it is always required. If requested, the document must be:
-
A bank statement or utility bill (gas, water, or electricity)
-
Clearly addressed to you.
-
Clearly displaying your full residential address (not a business address).
-
Dated within the last 3 months.
-
In the original format (e.g. a downloaded PDF, not a screenshot).
